THE MARYVILLE Bark in the Park Contest
Maryville Parks & Rec will be reviving its Bark in the Park Contest, one of its most enjoyable events during the Kiwanis Fall Festival on October 19 at Fireman’s Park. Bark in the Park, formally known as the Pooch Party, is a fun dog contest for any youth or adult with a purebred or mixed breed dog. Registration will be from 12:30 to 1:00. The fun competition judging will begin at 1:00 in Pavilion #4.
The classes for the show are Prettiest Pure Breed for both Over 40# and under 40#, the Prettiest Mixed Breed for both Over 40# and under 40#, Best Trick, Best Costume (dog only), Best Look Alike (no costumes), Ribbons and attendance prizes provided by area businesses will be given out.
There is no entry fee, but all dogs must have written proof of up-to-date vaccinations (rabies, Dhppc) in order to enter. Tags are not proof. Please bring your vet’s statement.
Pre-registration is encouraged and should be returned to the Administration Building at 2520 North Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062 by 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 17. Check the website for an application at www.vil.maryville.il.us All dogs must be six months or older to enter. And no dogs “in season” will be allowed at the event. All dogs must be on a short (4-6 ft.) leash, not a retractable leash.
