The City of Troy has announced that the much loved July 4 fireworks have been cancelled for 2020. The Troy City Council voted to cancel the fireworks to protect the safety of the community due to COVID-19. The Council voted in April, when they had to make a decision about putting down a 50% non-refundable deposit. At that time, there were so many unknowns, the Council decided to not host the fireworks. The fireworks are spectacular every year and draw around 10,000 visitors.
As the State of Illinois works through the COVID-19 phases, community events will be evaluated and scheduled. Be sure to check the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber’s website at www.troymaryvillecoc.com for upcoming events or give them a call at 618-667-8769 with any questions.
