  • Full-time Licensed Practical Nurse/Certified Nurse Assistant Faculty

    Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for one full-time, grant-funded position of Faculty in the LPN/Certified Nurse Assistant programs within the Business, Health Sciences and Homeland Security division. The anticipated start date is November1, 2022.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will serve as faculty in the LPN/Nurse Assistant program. As faculty, the individual will teach LPN/Nurse Assistant courses in both the traditional and computerized environment and will assist the program coordinator with program operations, accreditation standards, and the clinical education component of the program. As faculty, the individual will be responsible for the continued development, implementation, and overall effectiveness of the educational courses/curriculum with nursing faculty and evaluation of student performance. The individual will also assess student performance and collaborate with LPN/Nurse Assistant faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in each of the programs. Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois with a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing practice, with a valid practice license. Diversity in clinical practice experience, med-surg, rehabilitation and long-term care required.
    2. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an academic institution accredited and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) is required.
    3. Train the Trainer certificate or six hours of Alzheimer’s continuing education required.
    4. Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and advising skills.
    5. Competency with applicable software systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Blackboard, etc.) preferred.
    6. Ability to meet, successfully complete and maintain minimum health requirements, drug and/or reference checks required by college and/or clinical facilities prior to and throughout employment.
    7. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.
    8. A valid driver’s license is required.

    SALARY

    This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule.  For example, the minimum 2022-2023 starting salary at Step 1 on the below Master’s Degree column is $48,491.  Voluntary overload teaching assignments and mandatory summer program coordination may increase the annual compensation up to 40%.  The College offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.

    WORK LOCATION

    East St. Louis / Granite City / Belleville / Red Bud campus with district-wide clinical responsibilities. Driving may be required to reach off-campus sites, visit clinical facilities throughout the region, and to attend professional functions within the state of Illinois.
