  • Lead Maintenance Worker - Nights

    ANNOUNCEMENT

    Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a full-time, Lead Maintenance Worker on nights.  This position is covered under the agreement between the College and Service Employees Union Local #116. 

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this is a full-time position assigned a 40 hour schedule each week.  The work involves considerable manual labor throughout the work shift as well as the application of a variety of skills.  Personnel are required to exercise problem-solving skills in diagnosing and resolving a wide range of mechanical problems.  This position may perform maintenance work at any of the campuses and program sites within the college district.  This is a working position, not a managerial position, which does not meet the NLRA or IELRA standards for a non-union supervisor.  Primary areas of responsibilities will be Belleville, PSOP, Fire Science and Red Bud. 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Functional reading and basic math skills as evidenced by a High School Diploma or GED certificate is required.
    2. Technical school or vocational training strongly preferred.
    3. A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required.
    4. Must be over 21 with a valid driver’s license.
    5. Maintenance workers must be able to satisfactorily perform the assigned duties.  Work experience is strongly preferred in three or more of the following areas:

    Building automation systems controls (Trane/Honeywell/Niagara)

    Centrifugal Chillers

    Air Handlers

    Electrical

    Low Pressure Boilers

    Plumbing

    Carpentry

    VAV’s

    5.  Strong interpersonal skills, positive attendance and disciplinary records, and high work ethic required.

    STARTING PAY AND HOURS

    $26.00 per hour; plus $3.00 per hour for hours worked as Lead Maintenance Worker

    WORK LOCATION

    Belleville Campus with responsibilities district wide; night shift
