We're looking for two individuals to join our Member Solutions Department as full-time Collectors. 

    Role:

    Preserve the Credit Union's assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent payments, recovering and disposing of collateral.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    80%

    Contacts delinquent accounts and takes appropriate measures to recover Credit Union assets. Takes telephone calls from members or meets in person with members needing assistance with delinquent obligations.

    10%

    Assist Member Solutions management team with decision making on bankruptcies, repossessions, total loss claims, court appearances, etc.

    5%

    Identifies areas where existing Credit Union programs can be improved and/or enhanced.

    5%

    Performs other duties as identified from time to time.

     

    Expectations:

    1.

    Work to maintain the Credit Union's charged-off and delinquent accounts at or below acceptable levels.

    2.

    To ensure all collection activity is legal and follows Credit Union policy.

    3.

    To keep management informed of operational issues affecting the Credit Union's collection activities.

    4.

    To help Member Solutions management train and motivate a highly qualified staff sufficient to meet daily operational needs of the department.

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience:

    One to two years of similar or related experience

    Education:

    A high school education or GED

    Interpersonal Skills: 

    A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

    Physical Demands:

    This position frequently requires you to talk, hear and use your fingers. Occasionally, this position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling or lifting up to 10 pounds. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing details on a computer terminal.

    This position will be scheduled 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. This position is also scheduled on a rotation for Saturdays, working 8 AM to 1 PM. Scheduled working hours are subject to change at the discretion of the manager and/or credit union based on the department's needs.
