Collecting Grocery Bags

One of the Senior ladies is collecting bags--Wal-mart, Schuette's, Schnucks, etc. etc. Any plastic bag that you have and don't need please bring to the Senior Center @ 409 Collinsville Road or to the Library. They are needed for a  future project so your help is appreciated.

Concealed Cary Classes

Bethel will host this course March 15-17 (Thursday and Friday, 6-10 pm., Saturday 8 a.m. 5 p.m.). This will certify you and provide the opportunity to apply for the Illinois concealed carry license. Cost: $99. Contact Jim via email.

The Pentecostals of Troy, 8965 Rt. 162, Troy IL, will be accepting Easter Pound Cakes orders now through March 18. The egg shaped, chocolate covered pound cakes are topped with a candy flower and sell for $12 per dozen and $6 per half-dozen. Pick up day is March 24 from 10 AM 4 PM. Frieden's Spring Sausage & Kraut Dinner

On Sunday, March 11, 2018 Friedens United Church of Christ, 207 E. Center, Troy, IL, will host its annual sausage dinner which will include dine-in, carryout and the popular curbside service. Just phone in your order to 667-6535 and it will be delivered to your car. The dinner is served from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Carry-outs and curbside will be available until 6:00 p.m. The menu includes all you can eat grilled pork sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sauerkraut, applesauce, dessert and beverage. The cost is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children age 5-10, age 4 and under will be free. All carry-outs and curbside will cost $10.00. Kindergarten Registration

Children ages 5 on or before September 1, 2018 can register for kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year. Thursday, April 12, 2018 Marine, St. Jacob, and Troy parents can meet at their respective schools to register their children.

In order to register your child, bring Proof of Residency and Original Birth Certificate. Marine parents will meet at Marine Elementary School to complete registration residency @ 5:30 pm w/ information presentation to follow @ 6:00 pm. St. Jacob parents meet at St. Jacob Elementary @ 5:30 pm for registration residency w/ information presentation to follow @ 6:00 pm. Troy parents meet at Silver Creek Elementary @ 5:00 pm w/ information presentation @ 6:00 pm. Childcare will be provided at the schools. Please call the schools to reserve childcare in advance for the meeting at the building you will attend.

PTO Bubble Fun Run

All local businesses are invited to participate in sponsoring the 2nd Annual PTO Bubble Fun Run at Silver Creek Elementary. Event will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The 5k race will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Kids' Fun Run.

There are three levels of sponsorship available for the bubble run. With a Platinum Sponsorship for $500, you can have your business name or logo in large print on shirts and more. Gold Sponsorship for $250, you can have your business name in medium sized print on the back of shirt and more. Silver Sponsorship for $100, you can have your business name in small sized print on the back of the shirt. The Knights Ball

Come support Triad Athletics on Saturday May 12, 2018 from 6:00 PM- 11:00 PM. This event will be held at the Fireman's Hall in Collinsville IL. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at Triad middle and High School offices, the Chamber office, and Timeout Grill. Must be 21 or up to attend.

This event will feature the live band Living Loud . The Red Carpet begins at 5:30 PM, Band will be playing from 7:00-11:00 PM, and food and drink will be served all evening. Anderson Hospital Community Blood Drive

Anderson Hospital will host a Community Blood Drive Tuesday, March 20 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. at 6800 State Route 162, inside classrooms 1 2. To donate please contact The Blood Center at (866) 448-3253 or visit our website and use code 9823 to locate the drive.

Must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo id is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes- 1 hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.

Best of Maryville Art Contest

Maryville will host its 15th Best of Maryville Art Contest and Show on March 25, from 1:00-3:00 at the Community Center, 500 E. Division Street. Artists and photographers can enter in 6 different age divisions: K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th Grades, High School, and Amateur and Open. Maryville Library Book Sale

For the entire year of 2018, Maryville Community Library will have a BOGO on all books in the book sale. Due to sever space constraints, we no longer accept book donations. The ongoing book sale is held during regular library hours, six days a week.

There are books of all kinds for sale in the Friends' ongoing book sale: the latest fiction, cook books, bios, children's books, and more. Edison's Breakfast with the Bunny

Edison's will host a Breakfast with the Bunny at 8:30am on Saturday, March 24. A pancake breakfast will be served until 10:30am, and an unlimited bowling, laser tag, and arcade package will be available until 11am. Free balloon creations will also be available all morning. With paid admission, each child 12 and under will receive a free photo with The Easter Bunny and two Easter eggs filled with goodies like a free bowling pass, candy, and toys. Tickets for the breakfast and unlimited entertainment deal are $16, and tickets for the breakfast only are $10. Guests wanting a guaranteed table reservation and seating time may pay in advance by calling Edison's party planners at (618) 307-9020. Walk-ins are welcomed and will be seated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Savvy Caregiver Training Session

St. John's Community Care will offer Savvy Caregiver Training several times through 2018 using a curriculum developed by the University of Minnesota. For more information or to register call 618-344-5008.

Are you a caregiver for a family member who has Alzheimer's disease or another related disorder? Does that person live at home? Are you looking for ways to increase your knowledge and confidence in this role? The series of 6 classes will be held Thursday mornings from 10 - noon, on February 15 22 - March 1,8,15,22. The location will be at Ruth's House 7325 Marine RD, Edwardsville, Illinois 62025. Tuesday evenings from 6 - 8 pm on April 17 24 - May 1,8,15,22 at Fairview Heights Community Room, 10025 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Each series is limited to a maximum of 12 families. Summer Science Camp

If you love science, experiments, and making discoveries about the world around you, or simply want to know more about how the world works, then our science camp is for you! This summer we will be exploring five areas of science using hands-on STEAM techniques along with the scientific method. Science Camp will be hosted by Mrs. Jennifer Doyle. Mrs. Doyle has a degree in biology from McKendree University and is a certified science teacher. She has six years of teaching experience in subjects ranging from Conceptual Chemistry to PreAP Biology. This camp is open to anyone entering 3rd-6th grade. Invite your friends and family! Trivia Night with Hard Road Theatre

Hard Road Theatre will be holding its annual trivia night on Saturday, March 10th at the John Wildi Masonic Temple located at 721 9th St., Highland, IL 62249. Doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $100 per team with a maximum of 8 people on a team. There is a limit of 15 tables, so it is advised that you reserve a table ahead of time. Trivia questions are general knowledge questions. In addition to the trivia contest, there will be a 50/50 drawing, a silent auction, and a table decorating contest.
