Annual Holiday Funds Drive

Starting on December 12 going through December 16, Ministries Unlimited will be holding its annual drive to benefit the less fortunate in our community. This year's goal is set at $40,000. Bethel Baptist Church will be the distribution set this year starting on Tuesday December 12th.

Distribution day will be Saturday December 16. Triad School District, churches, businesses, boy and girl scouts, groups, and residents have come together for years to provide happiness for the holidays. Food boxes, gift certificates toys are provided to make the holiday season bright for all. Food and new unwrapped toys should be brought to Bethel Baptist Church beginning Tuesday morning Dec 12th. Monetary contributions should be mailed to Ministries Unlimited 310 Collinsville Road, Troy, IL 62294.

B.A.D. Bus

The Troy First National Bank presents the B.A.D. Bus on Friday November 10th from 2-5PM. The B.A.D. Bus will be driving into FNB's Branch to help raise bullying awareness and learn positive ways to deal with it. We will be serving hot dogs and treats for everyone that stops by.

Coats for Cuties

FCB Banks is collecting Coats for Cuties through November 10th. Coats for Cuties is a drive to collect new and gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarfs for children attending Kindergarten through 6th grade. You can drop off donations at our office in Maryville at 2729 Maryville Road or the Troy office at 504 Edwardsville Road or any FCB Banks location. A box is located in the lobby. The coats, hats, gloves and scarves collected will be distributed to area schools to give to local children who are in need of warm clothing for the winter.

Fall Quilt and Art Show

Friedens United Church of Christ Women's Guild is hosting a Quilt and Fall Art show on Saturday November 11th from 10AM-3PM at 207 East Center Street. Admission is $2.00 and includes cookies and coffee. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Come to the Fall Art Quilt festival to see quilts, art work, crafts, holiday markets, and many other vendors. Maryville 5K/1M Turkey Trot

November 11, Maryville Park Rec will host its 12th annual 5K Run 1M Walk/Run Turkey Trot in Drost Park which is just off Rt. 159 and Vadalabene Drive. Registration begins at 7:30-8:45 A.M. Both races start at 9:00.

The pre-registration entry fee for the 5K Run is $20 without a shirt/$25 with long sleeve T-shirt. On race day the entry will be $25 or $30. The 1Mile Accuracy Walk/Run is FREE!! Awards and prizes include Overall and Overall Master male female winners, division winners and attendance prizes. To pre-register, download the entry form on our website. Return the form with your $20.00 or $25.00 check to the Village of Maryville, Parks Rec, 2520 N. Center, Maryville, IL 62062 by November 2 at 4:00. For the 1M Walk/Run, simply come the day of the race and sign up. For more information on the 5K race call Michelle at 618-401-1490. For the 1M Accuracy Walk/Run call Sharon at 618-304-4488. Proceeds benefit local cross country teams.

Poker Walk

Come to Main Street to support Small Business Saturday on November 25 and stay on Main Street to support the Alzheimer's Association with the Trottin' Into Christmas Poker Walk. Registration is open 2:30pm-5:00pm at Stagger Inn and is $35 per person.

Stop by all 5 venues (Big Daddies, Chava's, Foundry, Laurie's Place, and Stagger Inn) between 3pm and 8pm to collect your poker hand and receive drink specials. Arrive at Laurie's Place before 8pm to turn in your score card. Here you will have the opportunity to purchase a trade out card to improve your poker hand, purchase 50/50 tickets and booze basket tickets. Winners will be announced at 8pm at Laurie's Place. Pay outs will be as follows: $200 for first place, $100 for second place, $50 for third place. Tickets are available online or at the registration table.

Santa Returns to Edison's

Edison's Entertainment Complex will host a Breakfast with Santa from 8:30-11am on Saturday, December 16. The cost for the pancake breakfast, a photo with Santa, and unlimited bowling, laser tag, and arcade will be $16 plus tax per guest. Breakfast-only tickets will also be available for just $10 plus tax per guest. Groups that RSVP by Monday, December 11 will receive a pass for free future game of bowling for each child in their group. RSVPs are strongly recommended but not required. Savvy Caregiver Training Sessions

Are you a caregiver for a family member who has Alzheimer's disease or another related disorder? Are you looking for ways to increase your knowledge and confidence in this role? Join us at St. Johns Community Care Center for Savvy Caregiver Training sessions several times thought 2018. This training provides tools to family members who are caring for an individual with dementia/memory loss who is living at home, either alone or with family. Trivia Night!

To kick off the holiday season, Special Olympics Illinois (SOIL) and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) will be hosting the 2017 Tailgate Trivia Knight on Saturday, December 2. This fundraiser is presented by the Knights of Columbus and is sponsored by GCS Credit Union. The event will be held at the O'Fallon KC Hall located at 402 East U.S. Highway 50 in O'Fallon with doors opening at 6p and trivia kickoff at 7 p. Winter Musical Auditions

Hard Road Theatre is proud to announce auditions for their winter musical: BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO. Auditions will be held on Sunday, November 12th and Monday, November 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Upper Elementary Auditorium, 1800 Lindenthal Ave., Highland, IL.

There are roles for 3 men and 3 women. Those auditioning should come prepared with 16 measures of a Broadway-style piece that illustrates their vocal abilities. Those auditioning should also be prepared to learn a short dance routine and need to be aware of any conflicts they have through January 28th. An accompanist will be provided. No recordings will be allowed. Performances are scheduled for January 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, and 27th. Hard Road Theatre Productions is a non-profit theatre organization committed to providing Highland and the surrounding area with high-quality, affordable, live theatre productions.
