Easter Pound Cakes for Sale

The Pentecostals of Troy, 8965 Rt. 162, Troy IL, will be accepting Easter Pound Cakes orders now through March 18. The egg shaped, chocolate covered pound cakes are topped with a candy flower and sell for $12 per dozen and $6 per half-dozen. Pick up day is March 24 from 10 AM 4 PM. Knights of Columbus Trivia

Saturday, March 3, 2018 Troy Illinois Knights of Columbus Council #9266 annual Trivia Night. Proceeds will benefit St. John Neumann Elementary School, Scholarships and Various Charities. Trivia will be held at the St. John Neumann Elementary School, 142 Wilma Drive, Maryville, IL 62062. Please call Norm Broska 618 667-2115 with reservations questions or email or you may also call Bill Bulva at 618-667-2768. Doors open at 6:00 pm play begins at 7:00 pm. Cash prizes to the top 3 finishers. The cost per table is $120, limit of 8 players per table. Bring your own food, snacks and beverages coolers allowed. There will be a silent auction, 50/50, mulligans and other bonus games. Put on your thinking caps and enjoy and evening of fun with your friends.

The Knights Ball

Come support Triad Athletics on Saturday May 12, 2018 from 6:00 PM- 11:00 PM. This event will be held at the Fireman's Hall in Collinsville IL. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at Triad middle and High School offices, the Chamber office, and Timeout Grill. Must be 21 or up to attend.

This event will feature the live band Living Loud . The Red Carpet begins at 5:30 PM, Band will be playing from 7:00-11:00 PM, and food and drink will be served all evening. You are able to win up to $15,000 in CASH. $1,000 Early Bird drawing on Jan 31st, 2018. **cash prizes are dependent upon ticket sales**

Anderson Auxiliary Scholarships

The Auxiliary of Anderson Hospital in Maryville is offering $1,000 scholarships to students who are enrolled in a hospital-related health care field. Students must be residents of the State of Illinois and must attend an accredited school. (Doesn't have to be Illinois institution). Winners will be announced in July, 2018. The scholarship application packets also include applications for the Anderson Hospital Physicians $1,000 scholarship (due May 15) and for the IHHA $1,000 scholarship (due April 15). Applications are available through the financial aid and counseling departments of local academic institutions. They can be found at the Anderson Hospital main lobby desk, Volunteer Office, and the Switchboard. Online applications can be found on the hospital s website.

Coal Mining in Madison County

Bob Gibson, a nationally recognized authority on coal mine subsidence Supervisor of the Emergency Section of the Abandoned Mines Land Reclamation Division for the IDNR. He will give an overview of historical coal mining techniques used in local mines, locations of mine shafts and tunnels.

He will talk about mine subsidence and services available if you do have problems. This final session will be from 1:00-3:00 PM at Maryville Community Center, 500 E. Division St. The session is free and open to the public, but in order to have enough handouts, pre-registration is requested, but not required. Free Resources Screening Event

On Monday, February 26th, from 1:00-3:00pm, the Cambridge House of Maryville will be hosting a Heart Health Resource Fair. Members of the public are invited to attend the event, which will offer a wide variety of information presented by close to 20 vendors. Free screenings available.

Vendors who will be participating include: Troy Maryville YMCA, Collinsville Area Recreation District (CARD), Amedysis Home Health, American Cancer Society, Gateway Regional Medical Center, HSHS St. Joseph s Hospital, Connect Hearing, Centerstone Community Mental Health Center, St. John s Community Care, Familia Dental, Walgreen s Pharmacy, Susan Grammer Law Offices, Anderson Hospital, Faith in Action, Alzheimer s Alzheimer's Association, Veterans Assistance Commission, and Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurses Association (SIVNA). The Heart Health Resource Fair will take place on the first and second floors of the Cambridge House. The Cambridge House is located at 6960 State Route 162 in Maryville, Illinois. Friends of the Maryville Community Library Book Sale **Due to severe space constraints, we no longer accept book donations.** There are books of all kinds for sale in the Friends' ongoing book sale: the latest fiction, cook books, bios, children's books, and more. Hidden treasures, old favorites, and new discoveries can all be yours for $5.00 a bag. The on-going book sale is held during regular library hours, six days a week. Stop by and browse. We'll even help you carry books to your car.

Pruning Do's and Dont's

On Sunday, February 18 Ken Wheat will present Pruning Do's and Don'ts. Wheat, a Master Gardener. Master Naturalist, and former teacher at Edwardsville High School will talk about the timeline, tools, and techniques to properly prune your trees and shrubs.

This Discovery Sunday event will be at Maryville Community Center, 500 E. Division St. Maryville from 1:00-3:00 PM. The session is free to everyone and although not necessary, reservations are requested to ensure enough handouts. Educational Classes and Informational Meetings

Hello Everyone, The Alzheimer's Association Educational Classes will be at Main Street Community Center, in Edwardsville, the first Tuesday of every month.

Savvy Caregiver Training Session

St. John's Community Care will offer Savvy Caregiver Training several times through 2018 using a curriculum developed by the University of Minnesota. For more information or to register call 618-344-5008.

Are you a caregiver for a family member who has Alzheimer's disease or another related disorder? Does that person live at home? Are you looking for ways to increase your knowledge and confidence in this role? The series of 6 classes will be held Thursday mornings from 10 - noon, on February 15 22 - March 1,8,15,22. The location will be at Ruth's House 7325 Marine RD, Edwardsville, Illinois 62025. Tuesday evenings from 6 - 8 pm on April 17 24 - May 1,8,15,22 at Fairview Heights Community Room, 10025 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Each series is limited to a maximum of 12 families. Foundations for Success Birth-3 Program

Got Babies, Toddlers or one on the way? The Foundations for success birth to three program, is a voluntary education and support program offered to eligible families who reside in the Triad School District and who are expecting a baby or have a child under the age of 3 years. The program is funded through the Illinois Department of Education. Some info shared during Home Visits may include: Pregnancy Topics, Child Development Age, appropriate toys, activities and books, child and parenting topics, developmental screenings, hearing and vision, screenings, playgroups, family events medical and community resources.
