Troy City Wide Garage Sales October 7th

The Troy City Wide Garage Sale is set for Saturday, October 7, in the Triad High School parking lot and throughout Troy, from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. For Troy addresses, it is free to participate. The cost is $20 for a space at the High School.

In addition to the garage sale, there will be Pumpkin Festival and Community Expo, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Many activities for families including Knockerball, karoke, mobile gaming, and much more. And FOOD - there is some great food planned, including the famous pork burgers from TheBank of Edwardsville, barbeue from the Boy Scouts, food trucks, and much, much more! Any Vendor can set up a space for just $20. We encourage individuals, businesses and non-profits to sign up.

American Legion Painting Fundraiser

On Sunday, October 1 from 2-5 PM the American Legion Auxiliary is raising money for Christmas gifts for Veterans and the John Cochran VA Hospital. The fundraiser is a paint/wine/appetizers event. Diana Bauer will be instructing this event for $45 per person which includes the painting, 2 drinks, and appetizers.

Friedens UCC Sausage Dinner

Friedens United Church of Christ will host its annual sausage dinner on Sunday October 8th. The dinner will include dine in, carryout, and curbside service. People can phone in their orders to 667-6535 and it will be delivered to their car. $10 for adults, and $5 for kids ages 5-10.

The sausage dinner will be served from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Carry-outs and curbside will be available until 6PM. The menu includes: all you can eat grilled pork sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sauerkraut, applesauce, dessert, and beverage. All carry-outs and curbside will cost $10. Kelly Miller Circus

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls Step right up! Silver Creek Rotary welcomes the Kelly Miller Circus to town on Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th. The Kelly Miller Circus will appear in front of R.P. Lumber Company in Troy with shows at 4:30 pm and 7:30pm on Friday evening and 2:00pm and 5:00pm Saturday. Advance tickets are $6 for children and $12 for adults and available at these locations : A R Paints and Crafts, FCB Troy, FNB Banking Center -Troy, Maryville Village Hall, Meineke Car Center - Troy, St. Jacob Village Hall, Scott Credit Union Troy, The BANK of Edwardsville Troy Glen Carbon, Troy Early Childhood all locations through Thursday, October 5th. Discount ticket prices will be honored online at the Kelly Circus website. The Kelly Miller Circus coloring contest is back again and sponsored by FNB First National Bank Troy. The contest is open to children ages 3 thru 11 and coloring sheets are available at all ticket outlets and online at the Silver Creek Rotary website. Entries are due by Friday, September 29th and can be submitted to FNB First National Bank located at 304 Bargraves Blvd during regular business hours. Winners will be notified on Wednesday, October 4th. Three Circus ticket packages will be awarded to the winners in the following age categories: 3yr. 5yr., 6yr. 8yr. and 9yr.-11yr.

Glo Bingo Extravaganza

Anderson Hospital Auxiliary is hosting a Glo Bingo Extravaganza on Friday, September 29 at the Edwardsville American Legion, 58 IL-157, Edwardsville, IL. Doors open at 6 p.m. With ten $100 games, two mega 50/50 games, lots of door prizes and fantastic raffle items, this event is a must go to! A DJ, songs, humor and props with a hospital theme is sure to be a big hit! Food and drinks will be available for purchase or you can bring your own snacks. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 (includes 6 bingo cards, dabber and hat) starting August 15th at the Anderson Hospital Gift Shop or online at their website (for a small fee). With a limited number of tickets available at the door for $25, participants are encouraged to buy tickets before the event. Must be 18 or older to play!

Special Olympics Illinois Athletes to Compete in Area 12 Bowling

Families, volunteers and spectators are invited to cheer on Special Olympics athletes- men and women, boys and girls- as they compete in Southwestern Area 12 Bowling. The competitions will be held on two consecutive Sundays, September 23 and October 1, at St. Clair Bowl located 5950 Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights, IL. Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies kicking off the competition.

Over the course of both event dates, 441 athletes representing 25 agencies from  Area 12 will bowl in individual, doubles and team competition.  Southwestern Area 12 is comprised of the following counties: Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, St. Clair and Washington.

Gold medal winners from the Area events will qualify to advance to the Southern Sectional Bowling on November 5, 2017 at St. Clair Bowl.

Starting Small Business Workshop

This is an introductory course on opening a small, for-profit, business in Illinois, which will include resources available through the SBDC. The workshop is required to become a client and begin the free, on-on-one conseling sessions with a trained SBDC consultant.

"Starting a Small Business in Illinois", Wednesday, October, 2017 in Building D, Room 2002, East St. Louis Campus from 3-4:30 PM.

"Starting a Business in Illinois" workshops are subject to class size limits, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. All participants are asked to pay a one-time, $10 registration fee to cover administrative costs.

SWIC Annual Manufacturing Day

SWIC will open its doors for a Manufacturing Day Open House - Friday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. - to showcase new technology, educational programs, career opportunities, products and services. The SWIC Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, 4950 Maryville Road, will serve as the event hub for the day.

Check out high-tech automated manufacturing machinery, hear from regional manufacturers and discover how American manufacturing is flourishing - all at the Southwestern Illinois College Manufacturing Day celebration. More than 1,000 local high school students are scheduled to attend. The celebration is free and open to the public. The welcome ceremony begins at 9 a.m.

The Auxiliary to Anderson Hospital is a volunteer organization that has over 200 members, most of those members are active volunteers within the hospital. The Auxiliary is an integral part of Anderson Hospital. Anderson Hospital is a not-for-profit, acute care medical facility. Established in 1977, Anderson Hospital offers a full range of advanced health care services. The hospital is owned and operated by Southwestern Illinois Health Facilities, Inc. Salvation Army Seeking Volunteers

The Salvation Army in Granite City, IL could use voluntees for assistance in the morning with stocking food pantry and making produce bags. In the afternoon we could use volunteers to assist with the distribution of the food orders for the clients of the food pantry.

Morning hours would be 9am-Noon, and Afternoon hours would be 1pm-2:45pm. If you would like to work the complete day, lunch is provided.
