Friedens Germanfest 5K

On September 16th the Friedens Germanfest 5K run/walk will begin at 9am with the festivities beginning at 4pm. There will be delicious homemade German food for purchase, with music provided from the well known and talented Deutschmeister German band. Located at the Tri-Township Park Troy, IL.

Saint Paul's Annual Rummage Sale

Want to make a positive impact on a child’s education or just looking for a great weekend activity? Maybe you are just a bargain hunter on the search for that next glorious find. Saint Paul’s Lutheran School annual rummage sale happens Friday September 22nd and Saturday September 23rd (7am-12pm daily) at Tri-Township Park in Troy Illinois underneath the white pavilion.

There is a wide assortment of jewelry, furniture, household items, books, toys, clothes and much more. The proceeds support the ongoing efforts of Saint Paul’s Lutheran School!

The event is organized by the PTL (Parent Teacher League) of Saint Paul’s and the generous members of the congregation has helped to purchase desks, chairs, library books, and athletic equipment. Special Olympics Illinois Athletes to Compete in Area 12 Bowling

Families, volunteers and spectators are invited to cheer on Special Olympics athletes- men and women, boys and girls- as they compete in Southwestern Area 12 Bowling.   The competitions will be held on two consecutive Sundays, September 23 and October 1, at St. Clair Bowl located 5950 Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights, IL.  Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. with Opening Ceremonies kicking off the competition. 

Over the course of both event dates, 441 athletes representing 25 agencies from  Area 12 will bowl in individual, doubles and team competition.  Southwestern Area 12 is comprised of the following counties: Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, St. Clair and Washington.

Gold medal winners from the Area events will qualify to advance to the Southern Sectional Bowling on November 5, 2017 at St. Clair Bowl.

The next book sale at the Tri Township Library, located at 209 South Main in Troy, will be held on Saturday September 16th from 9:00 AM to noon. Books, magazines, DVD, CD donations are accepted during regular library hours or on the day of the sale. Event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Balloons over Marine Festival

3rd Annual Balloon Over Marine Festival will be Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. The event will feature launches on Friday and Saturday evening, and a sunrise launch on Saturday morning, as well as a balloon glow on Saturday evening. Many activities will also be available to attend.

MARYVILLE EVENTS

Access to Fishing Program @ Maryville Community Library

Rods and reels, provided by Illinois Department of Natural Resources, are available to borrow much like checking out and returning a library book. Tackle packets (containing hooks, sinkers, a bobber, etc.) and instructional fishing literature are also available at no cost for users to keep when they borrow a fishing pole. Come in and check one out!

Cambridge House of Maryville Seeking Volunteers

The Cambridge House of Maryville is seeking volunteers to assist with Resident Activities on site.  Resident Services Coordinator Kathy Tammen is asking for members of the public who might be interested in assisting with or leading certain activities with our residents.

Examples of activities include bingo calling, leading arts & crafts groups or various interest groups. Anyone with a special skill, hobby, or talent is also encouraged to volunteer.

Volunteer hours are flexible, and are available during weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays.  Volunteers of all ages are welcome, especially those who are in need of volunteer service hours for school districts or local churches.

Maryville Community Library Book Sale

Friends of the Maryville Community Library Book Sale There are books of all kinds for sale in the Friends' ongoing book sale: the latest fiction, cook books, bios, children's books, and more. Hidden treasures, old favorites, and new discoveries can all be yours for $5.00 a bag. The on-going book sale is held during regular library hours, six days a week. Stop by and browse. We'll even help you carry books to your car. Due to lack of climate controlled storage space, donations will not be accepted during January and February.

Zootopia- Movie in the Park

Maryville Park and Rec Committee will continue their 2017 Movies in the Park series with the Golden Globe and Academy Award winning Zootopia (PG) at #8 Schiber Court, Drost Park in Maryville, Saturday, September 16 starting after dusk about 7:15-7:20.

The Disney movie is an animated film featuring a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con-artist fox who must work together to uncover a conspiracy. Among its 40 award wins, is AARP's Best Movie for Adults that Refuse to Grow Up. The movie and Bobby's Frozen Custard will be provided by Anderson Hospital Beatty Motil, Attorneys Kurt's CarStar Maryville Kiwanis and Mariachi's Mexican Restaurant. A number of additional local vendors will set up their tables and offer treats and prizes to those in attendance beginning at 6:05. Follow the green and blue signs off of Rt. 159 to Valadabene Drive to Schiber Court. Bring your lawn chairs, loungers, blankets, bug spray to make your evening comfortable. ST JACOB EVENTS

St. Jacob Activity Center to be Remodeled

The Activity Center in St. Jacob will begin with its remodeling beginning Monday, July 17 after the Homecoming weekend. It has a planned construction end date set at September 29. Meetings will be held at the old Village Hall in St. Jacob. If the new Village Hall is completed before the remodel is done the meetings will move to there. The following dates have been set for Board Meetings: August 13 and 17, September 7 and 21.

Auction Fundraiser for Hope for Heros

Hope for Heros is an event located at the Collinsville VFW on 1234 Vandalia Street on September 14, 2017. Auction begins at 7pm. We are trying to find new and innovative ways to entice people to come out and help us raise money for our charities.

We have had donations for a ticket raffle, and we appreciate the donations. I realize that many companies are not able to donate large items/gift certificates. I am therefore asking for donations for our ticket raffle or door prizes. Something our guest are not able to get in a monthly mailer/newspaper/circular. Glo Bingo Extravaganza

Anderson Hospital Auxiliary is hosting a Glo Bingo Extravaganza on Friday, September 29 at the Edwardsville American Legion, 58 IL-157, Edwardsville, IL. Doors open at 6 p.m. With ten $100 games, two mega 50/50 games, lots of door prizes and fantastic raffle items, this event is a must go to! A DJ, songs, humor and props with a hospital theme is sure to be a big hit! Food and drinks will be available for purchase or you can bring your own snacks. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 (includes 6 bingo cards, dabber and hat) starting August 15th at the Anderson Hospital Gift Shop or online at their website (for a small fee). With a limited number of tickets available at the door for $25, participants are encouraged to buy tickets before the event. Must be 18 or older to play!

Starting Small Business Workshop

This is an introductory course on opening a small, for-profit, business in Illinois, which will include resources available through the SBDC. The workshop is required to become a client and begin the free, on-on-one conseling sessions with a trained SBDC consultant.

"Starting a Small Business in Illinois", Wednesday, October, 2017 in Building D, Room 2002, East St. Louis Campus from 3-4:30 PM.

"Starting a Business in Illinois" workshops are subject to class size limits, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. All participants are asked to pay a one-time, $10 registration fee to cover administrative costs.
